Scripps College is searching for a new orchestra conductor since Michael Lamkin is retiring at the end of the year. This conductor must also be able to teach a music history/appreciation class and in the core. One candidate is here today, so I went to hear his lecture entitled
Brahms the Progressive? I enjoyed being in a college music classroom again which is another universe from elementary school music.
He also conducted our orchestra in Wagner's Tannhauser Overture.
I missed the first candidate two weeks ago when I was sick, but I get to also see the final one next week.
