Mid-year blahs

This is the time of year when beginning string students start feeling fidgety in class. At the beginning of the year, they are excited about starting, and we play lots of games to get them started. Every year I try to think of something to keep the interest going, but nothing works too well. I guess I have to think of games that are good for kids who can play from G below middle C to the D one octave above middle C. Some of the kids need help with note reading, so perhaps it's time for a spelling bee.
