Wonderful New Student

I had a new private student start today. She started in the string program as a beginner with her brother and sister, but it was apparent that she was way ahead of everyone else in the class. She plays piano and had some violin experience as a young child. So, she was referred to me, and I have gladly taken her on.

So, she told me that she is playing violin with the bell choir for Christmas next week, and could we work on that piece? Sure! Turns out, it's Silent Night in two flats with slurs! She can read the notes, and the idea of moving your fingers higher and lower didn't seem to faze her. She also didn't know slurs before today, but by the end of her half hour, she was clear on the concept and execution. I'm going to love teaching her!
