First Orchestra Concert of the Season

I'm finally home unwinding and decompressing after a weekend of concerts. It started with rehearsal on Wednesday night, dress rehearsal Friday night, concert Saturday night, concert Sunday afternoon. On the program: A Symphonic Portrait of Porgy and Bess by Gershwin and Dvorak's New World Symphony.

We've been rehearsing hard, working on ensemble, transitions, intonation, etc., and by last night, we played very well. The crowd was greatly appreciative and gave us a standing ovation. Today we sounded good, but I think many of us, especially me, felt a little mentally and physically fatigued, so there were individual slips. I don't think it affected the overall sound, though, and we had a great reception by the audience again.

So, this was the first concert, and we should only get better throughout the year.
