As a break from yard work yesterday afternoon, I treated myself to a free concert by the Gold Coast Trio at Garrison Theater. Although the Schubert Piano Trio was very good, I particularly enjoyed the Zwilich and Piazzolla trios. In the Zwilich, I listened to the motivic manipulations which were carried out through all three movements and how she used silences in the midst of the exciting, loud passages. The Piazzolla was just plain lucious and fun. These movements were all tangos with interesting harmonies.My computer has been in the shop getting a new power supply for 4 days now, and I have been waiting to get back to composing. Maybe by tomorrow I will!
