I am fortunate that my string quartet friends are still interested in playing my music. After I met with Bill last week, I quickly did some revisions of my first movement and printed them out. We met Sunday evening, and I got to hear live, real instruments play my music, and it helped me to see what I need to continue revising. I worked on that movement some more, but now I am putting it on ice while I contemplate the second movement.
Actually, this morning I wrote about 40 seconds of music in over an hour. I wonder if that is like writing a page of prose? I am still listening to Jerod Tate's music, especially his Tracing Mississippi, for ideas on incorporating some music of the Sierra Miwoks and Mono Paiutes into a second movement. Both songs I have are in the 13457 pentatonic mode. My tonic is D, and I am throwing in the B for color (still like that tritone!).
