This morning I finished up the Hungarian Dance for Vista Orchestra, including all the markings (accents, dynamics, bowings, etc.) I am thinking of teaching the melody to the orchestra in the Carol Roberts/Orff fashion with movement, phrasing, and such before we even touch our instruments. Something a little different from the usual. Also a chance to practice the technique before I do it with the beginners.
Late morning I got to thinking more about the motific melodies. Although I like the beginning of the Druid Fluid, I wanted to think about something more rhythmic. That has led me to Stravinsky – Firebird – the Infernal Dance of King Kashchei. Love that energy!
